The Power of Words
September 29, 2009 by Douglas
Okay, I must confess. I thoroughly enjoy slowing down enough (now and again) to reflect upon different quotes from different eras. Probably not a hobby most people gravitate to, but there’s something about the power of words and certainly of story.
One quote I’d read years ago and stumbled upon recently is “Architecture is frozen music.” For me, revisiting this quote was like meeting an old friend on the street by chance and getting reacquainted after many years. What power in four simple words. The power of architecture as an art form has always captured my imagination and there is something musical about it that seems timeless and when well done, is awe-inspiring.
Select one of your favorite quotes and share it. Maybe it’s connected to a defining moment in your life or perhaps it just made you smile and laugh.

“We all stumble on the way to maturity, we all look for love in the wrong arms, happiness in the wrong places, it makes us real.”
Brennan Manning
I am a collector of quotes also. Below is one of my favorites.
“Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one.” ~ Stella Adler
Thanks Laurie and Mike. Both are really brilliant quotes that are wonderful reminders of who we are in life, art, in the bigger picture. No doubt that I’ll be adding these to my personal list of quotes to reflect on.
