Alex Drozd
Alex Drozd (Osipov Alex Pavlovich) is originally from Novgorod and was raised in a simple modest family by his mother. His childhood interests included drawing, the study of animals in a school of young naturalists, playing guitar, and religion. Alex worked at the Nikolayev Zoo for a time before leaving for Moscow to attend and graduate from theological seminary.
Returning to Kiev, Ukraine, he was part of a religious order and began writing songs and music, which led him to become a songwriter and vocalist of the successful music group, Drozdy. Simultaneously, Alex managed to find time to create oil paintings and eventually his artwork began to sell out without advertising or gallery exhibitions. Today, Alex Drozd’s original paintings are in many private collections around the world such as Sweden, England, Ukraine, the United States and the Arab Emirates.
As Alex says, “I gave up the searches of new ideas outside of myself and realized what was always inside of me – a world of positive emotions, child-like gladness, real values, and more importantly – honesty that was in front of me all that time.” Alex’s hope is that his art brings more of that light and positiveness to others, which we can lose during our lifetime, cheer you up and bring you much gladness.
