Why We Do What We Do

The facts speak for themselves. Each year, more than 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade and 27 million men, women and children are held as slaves. More than 1 billion children worldwide suffer from one or more extreme forms of poverty, whether that is the lack of safe drinking water, adequate nutrition, shelter, limited health care facilities, or education.

The Face of Need The United Nations estimates the world orphan population to be more than 143 million children. Poverty,  disease, war, and AIDS are the primary enemies. Less  than 10 percent of children orphaned and made  vulnerable by AIDS worldwide are receiving some kind of  public support.

Did you know that more than 40 million people  worldwide suffer from the AIDS epidemic, over 25 million in Africa alone? It is estimated by the year 2010 in sub-Saharan Africa, more than 18 million children – more than all the children in the United Kingdom, will have lost one or both parents to AIDS.

You have the opportunity to help. Don’t just get informed; get involved and practice the art of helping others.
